Schoolboy Ethan is Condorrat’s TV star

A Condorrat schoolboy will soon be beamed into thousands of homes across the country after landing the starring role in a new Royal Bank of Scotland advert.

Ethan Oliver (7) was selected to front the RBYES mortgage campaign after his mum Yvonne Watt heard about a casting call.

Yvonne explained: “I have got friends in the industry and they often put up posts on Facebook when they cannot find what they are looking for.

“I spotted a post for a boy who was confident and able to speak in front of the camera, and I thought of Ethan.

“I sent a photo to my friend Claire Catterson, who works for Des Hamilton Casting and she passed it on. “Within a few hours I got a call saying he was wanted for a casting call then quickly after I found out he got the role.”

The Westfield Primary pupil amazingly had never done any acting and was selected for the part after a successful audition.

In the advert, Ethan speaks about how much he loves the home he lives in, and how it was all made possible after RBS said yes to his parents when they applied for a mortgage.

Ethan will also appear in promotional material which will coincide with the campaign.

Yvonne said: “We did not realise how big it is. It is amazing they picked him. He is just a normal boy and he is very non fussed about it.

“I am, however, very proud of him and I am delighted because he did it all by himself. I was not in any of the auditions with him.”

Ethan will present the advert to pupils at the school, and show a making of the advert video.
