Around 4.50am, regional returning officer Mary Pitcaithly made the declaration of the Scottish votes in the EU Referendum at the counting centre in Grangemouth Sports Centre.

The number of votes in favour of remaining in Europe was 1,661,191, while the number opting to leave was 1,018,322.

The total votes cast in Scotland was 2,681,179.

However, with the UK appearing to be heading out of Europe, it looks like a time of political uncertainty in Scotland.
