In a unique exhibition later this month, all of the artists will donate up to 60 per cent of the sale price of their paintings to global charity Mary’s Meals.

Mary’s Meals sets up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education. The charity provides a meal a day for over one million hungry children in Africa, Asia, Latin America and India.

The artists taking part include: Tom Shanks, Hazel Nagl, Mhairi McGregor, Lin Pattullo, Marion Drummond,  James Davis, Philip Raskin, Ian Elliot and Charles Jamieson.

Tom Shanks, widely acknowledged as one of Scotland’s leading contemporary artists, will be selling some of his iconic and beautiful landscape watercolours.

James Davis said: “I was moved to take part when I learnt it costs just £15 to feed a hungry child for a whole year. Our goal is to raise enough money to feed a whole school.” Organised by Glasgow group Artists for Mary’s Meals, the aim is to raise enough money to bring daily

meals to a whole school of hungry children in Liberia.

It’s a challenging aim, but the prestigious Breeze Gallery in Ingram Street, Glasgow is giving exhibition space for free; and will not charge commission on any painting sold.
