Sense Scotland fundraiser takes the plunge

Following a successful charity breakfast at La Vita Piccolino E Vino recently - as reported in The Extra - the East Ren mum strapped on a helmet and took the plunge, cheered on by her own mum, Auntie Grace, sister Morag, husband Martin and daughters Katie (9) and Hannah (7).

Aileen told The Extra: “All were a great support and cheered me on, especially the girls whose chants of “mummy! mummy!” could almost be heard from the opposite side of the Clyde, where I was sliding from.

“It was a fantastic experience - thrilling, exhilerating and a little bit scary too when I stepped out the basket to slide down.

“It was all over far too quickly - at an estimated speed of 50/55 mph in 20 seconds - so I’ll definitely need to do it again another time!”

Also cheering on Aileen was Erin Leggate, community and events fundraiser for Sense Scotland.

The charity is now £650 richer, far exceeding Aileen’s initial target of £150. She added: “I’m delighted and want to thank everyone who has supported me, and therefore supported the great work that Sense Scotland do helping deafblind and disabled children and adults and their families in Scotland.”
