A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Understandably, the incidents have left the victims greatly distressed. Currently there are no descriptions available for the person or persons involved.

“Households can delay and deter would-be thieves by shutting all windows and doors, locking, securing and alarming their property and taking advantage of crime prevention measures.

“House and vehicle keys, light electrical goods, purses, wallets and handbags should all be removed from open view.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or who may have any information which might assist with their enquiries.

Members of the public are encouraged to contact Lanark Community Police by dialling 101 or alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in confidence.
