Set sail for fun and games at canal fest

Preparations are well in hand for this year's Kirkintilloch Canal Festival.

The fun takes place from August 15-21 this year, with plenty of events in store.

Boat trips are available every evening from 7-9pm, sailing from Southbank Marina to Bishopbriggs.

Gala Sunday starts at 10.30am on 
August 21 .

Entertainment on the bill this year includes dance troupe the Kennedy Cupcakes with some show-stopping routines to hits from the 1940s and 1950s.

The Canal Festival traces its roots back to the annual Kirkintilloch Police Station Open Day.

Expect exhibitions from the emergency services, including a Vintage Fire Engine Display.

There will also be 
model railway rides, a bouncy castle and lots more.

Dunbartonshire 
Concert Band will also take centre stage from noon

A 60-piece community wind band will play a varied repertoire, ranging from classical to contemporary, to film and 
popular music.
