Shawlands teacher sets sail with the Royal Navy
A Shawlands man has celebrated his formal commissioning as a Royal Navy officer on parade at the Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC).
Matthew Kidd (26) was one of 120 cadets on parade in front of distinguished guests.
Former Williamwood pupil Matthew completed a 30 week training course at the College in Dartmouth, including a three week ship acquaint aboard the HMS Bulwark.

Hide AdHe said: “It’s hard to believe that one year ago I was a teacher [at Giffnock Primary] and now, I am a commissioned Royal Navy officer. I very much look forward to the start of a very interesting and unique career that will take me all over the world.”
