Sheep worrying warning to Biggar dog walkers

Police are warning dog walkers, especially those in Biggar, to keep their pets under control near livestock

A woman was reported to the fiscal in June, in relation to an incident in which a dog attacked four sheep in a field opposite Biggar Showfield on Edinburgh Road.

But Police Safer Communities Officer Constable James Higgins said this week: “It has become apparent that this is not an isolated sheep worrying incident,

“It may be as a result of dog walkers displaced from the formerly well used walking site, which has now become the new housing development site.

“Dog walkers are reminded that control of the animal rests entirely with them, and they are required to ensure that their dogs are kept under proper control at all times, particularly on land near to, or containing, livestock.”
