Silence is golden and worth a pretty penny

Silence reigned at Braidbar Primary in Giffnock last week – for a whole hour and a half – as pupils took part in a sponsored silence.

The tightlipped kids raised almost £700, which they donated to a cancer charity.

Two of the pupils, Emma and Heidi, wrote a report about the project.

It reads: “As part of the Primary 6 science topic, the pupils got mini plants from Marie Curie Cancer Care and planted daffodils.

In class, the pupils enjoyed watching them grow and learning about the science behind the growing process.

In return for flower pots from Marie Curie cancer charity — which the kids planted with daffodils — the pupils decided to hold a sponsored silence. They had to stay completely silent for a whole hour and a half.

Mrs Jarvie from the Marie Curie Cancer Charity is pictured with pupils Maya and Joshua then presented Mrs Jarvie with a cheque.
