Silver award such a boost for Cumbernauld's civic pride

The tireless bid to shake Cumbernauld's concrete jungle tag is continuing after the town hung on to a prestigious accolade it received last year.

Beautiful Scotland judges deemed that Cumbernauld should retain its Silver Award in the hard-fought Small City category in the 50th anniversary year of the Beautiful Scotland awards.

The awards, which were announced in Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom last week put strong emphasis not simply on the look of towns involved but the community involvement which keeps them looking their best and sparks a sense of place and belonging.
