SNP's Gil Paterson wins Milngavie seat

The SNP's Gil Paterson said it's time to '˜knuckle down and get on with government' after winning the Clyebank and Milngavie seat in yesterday's Scottish Parliament election.

Gil Paterson increased his majority to over 8,000 votes and Labour’s Gail Casey came in second with 7,726 votes.

Returning officer Joyce White read out the result to loud cheers and clapping from the many SNP supporters who were there to hear the results at the count at Clydebank’s Play Drome.

Scottish Conservative candidate Maurice Golden was third, with 6,029 votes, and the Liberal Democrats Frank Bowles, who was not there on the night, was fourth with 2,925 votes.
