South Lanarkshire waste recycling centres are set to introduce a booking system for residents in the middle of August to reduce waiting times.

Hide AdThe new booking system will be introduced on Monday 12 August meaning residents will require a booking before accessing South Lanarkshire’s household waste and recycling centres to dispose of household waste. The five centres which will introduce the new system are Blantyre, Larkhall, Strathaven, East Kilbride and Rutherglen.
A similar system has been in place at Carluke centre for the past two years which council officials said had reduced traffic queues and waiting times.
Slots are set to open a week before the introduction of the booking system meaning people will be able to book a slot from Monday 5 August.

Hide AdA leaflet sent out to households said: “For a short period we will try to accommodate anyone without an appointment, but please be advised there are no guarantees, and you may face a long wait.”
After the short period of flexibility, from Monday 9 September onwards there will be no access to the household waste and recycling centres without a prior booking.
