Sports club warms up with grant

Clydesdale Community Amateur Sports Club has received loft insulation and energy efficient lighting thanks to a £1,778 community grant from E.ON’s Energy Action Fund.

The volunteers and club members had been fundraising for a year to replace some of the 86 light bulbs within the clubhouse with LED lighting before they approached energy company E.ON.

The grant has enabled all of the old, inefficient lights to be replaced, the loft insulation to be improved and a draught-excluding curtain to be fitted.

These measures are aimed at reducing heat loss and it is hoped will make the building more comfortable next winter for the many groups who include people attending cookery classes and first aid training, and more than 600 junior sports members.

Steve Taylor from the Sports Club, said: “Thanks to E.ON’s funding and with the insulation now in, we should be able to keep rooms at a more even temperature next winter which is important for the comfort of the young and older users of our club.”
