The store in Stockiemuir Avenue, Mosshead, was originally planned to open in the spring of this year but now it’s expected to open towards the end of July.
The squatter had to be removed before refurbishment work could start.
However, a spokesperson for the Co-op denied that the squatter had delayed the opening of the store.
He said: “While there was a squatter in the building for a while it had little impact on the building schedule.”
