St Ninian’s hear moving Holocaust memories

A CREATIVE writing competition at St Ninian’s High led to pupils being invited to the national Holocaust Memorial Day event.

Librarian Donna Baird had organised a short story challenge, and posted online about the school’s competition.

A group of nine pupils were then invited — along with Mrs Baird and history teacher Elizabeth Scroggie — to the event in Stirling, where they met Holocaust survivor Dr Alfred Munzer, who lost his family to Nazi concentration camps.

The school librarian said: “Alfred personalised the Holocaust and made it all about his family’s story — it was very powerful and moving.”
