State Hospital siren was not an alarm

The State Hospital has announced that its siren was set off accidentally this morning.

“The State Hospital siren at Ravenstruther was accidentally activated by BT this morning and the fault is currently being resolved,” said Doug Irwin, Security Director.

“There is no cause for alarm and no other security systems were affected.

The sirens were installed after a break-out from the hospital in Carstairs which left three people dead in 1976.
