The EDLC Trust oversees the delivery of local leisure and cultural services - including three leisure centres, eight libraries, a museum, art gallery, arts centre, sports development and active schools programmes.

Applications are being sought for the appointment of two independent directors to join the partner and independent directors on the board.

A Trust spokesperson said: “Ideally applicants should be knowledgeable in either or both leisure and cultural services and skills in a profession or other capacity that would add value and support to Board decisions would also be an advantage.”

Trust chairman Scott Hill said: “We would like to hear from people who have an interest in public service and who are committed to promoting leisure and cultural services.

“This is a great opportunity to shape the delivery and development of our current range of services.

“As a director you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and reviewing the performance of the Trust. On average, Directors will serve on the Board and Sub Groups around eight times per year. This may involve travelling to venues throughout East Dunbartonshire as and when required. However, meetings of the Board will normally be held in Kirkintilloch.

“The directors are voluntary roles, however they are entitled to receive costs incurred while serving, including travel, subsistence and all reasonable expenses.”

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of Development and Regeneration, added: “As a council we are pleased to be able to work with the Trust to deliver leisure and cultural facilities and services.

“The independent directors play a vital role in this delivery and help the board to continue its good work as we move forward together.”

Anyone interested in further details or in applying for one of these roles should request an application pack from Maeve Kilcoyne by emailing [email protected] or calling 0141 777 3147. Applications should be returned by Wednesday 30 September.
