Support High Mill and other bodies at Carluke fair

THE campaign to raise money for Carluke’s High Mill will be gathering momentum at Carluke Lifestyles Centre this Saturday, April 11.

For mini paintings of the mill – completed by local artist Nan Cunningham – will be on sale at a stall at the craft fair running between 11am and 4pm.

These single notelets of the paintings, showing the mill as it would have looked 100 years ago, have been produced with the aim of raising money to save the historic 18th century structure. A High Mill mascot – created by straw work specialist Elaine Lindsay, will also be on show.

The Spring Craft Fair has been organised following the success of the Christmas Craft Fair, and it aims to help crafters, charities and community groups local to the town.

There will be a range of goods available all selling unique hand-made products.

In addition, there will be craft demonstrations and taster sessions so that folks of all ages can try a range of crafts for themselves. Kids can also try art and paper crafts, and be entertained by magician Leigh Milne from Carnwath and LA Funky Faces facepainting and glitter tattoos.

There will be a chance to meet Dunc the Dog from Lesmahagow – the life-size mascot, who will be promoting unique hand-made doggy accessories being sold to raise funds for Staffie Smiles Rescue so your pooch can also be kitted out in unique designer style.

Activities to try include willow weaving, straw pleating, upcycled art, bead making, quilting and decorating your own cupcake!

Friends of Cambusnethan Priory will also have a range of greetings cards that will be on sale to help raise funds.
