Swimmer Fred Higginson enjoys 90th birthday bash

A WHOLE host of wellwishers greeted Fred Higginson as he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Keen swimmer Fred, who swims every Monday morning at Carluke Leisure Centre, was surprised by around 25 friends with a birthday cake, balloons and banners.

Friend Morag Jack said: “It was a fantastic morning and Fred was surprised by the wee celebration we had.

“Fred is a very quiet man but he is so well liked by everyone. It amazing that he is still swimming after all these years.

“A few people go together on a Monday morning and it’s good for all of them.”
