Takeover at Lanark business Wallace Express

ASSURANCES have been given on the jobs in one of Lanark’s most high-profile businesses, Wallace Express, following a major shake-up in the company’s ownership.

There is to be no effect on the employment of 35 local people at the Loch Road depot of the drink distribution firm following its complete takeover by the C&C Group, which took a 50 per cent stake in the company last year.

Perhaps the best-known existing arm of the C&C Group is Tennant Caledionian Breweries and there are hopes that, not only are the jobs in Lanark safe, but the move could see expansion at some point in the future.
