Taxi passenger killed in early morning car crash

Police officers are appealing for information following a fatal road crash in the East End of Glasgow in the early hours of Sunday, November 29.

At around 1.30am a green Vauxhall Astra was travelling west along Edinburgh Road when it was involved in a collision with a black Hackney taxi at the traffic lights at Stepps Road and Springboig Road.

Emergency services attended but the 57 year old woman, a passenger in the taxi, died at the scene.

A 52 year old man, also a passenger in the taxi, was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

The 50 year old male taxi driver is believed to have sustained minor injuries, as have the 20 year old male driver of the Vauxhall Astra and his 16 year old female passenger.

A 20 year old man will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
