The event starts in Rheims in France and finishes in the Czech capital Prague.

Unlike the famous Gumball Rally in the US – in which Ferraris, Aston Martins and Lamborginis attempt to outrun the American police and each other – the Crumball version will see the four friends get behind the wheel of an old banger, a 13-year-old Volkswagen Passat which they bought for £500.

Graeme (29) is relishing the exciting trip, which echoes the adventures of Top Gear trio Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

Graeme said: “The rally has a Mission Impossible theme but I’m hoping it won’t be impossible for us to finish it.

“I haven’t done anything like this before but we all thought it would be a great chance to be part of a real adrenaline holiday.

“We have already bought the car and over the next few weeks we will be replacing a lot of parts and decorating it.

“In the past, cars have been done up like the Batmobile or the Ghostbusters estate.

“Our theme is a 1990s rave so we will be fitting it out with neon lights, a new sound system and cameras.”
