The bar is open for southside’s very own Scotoberfest

The duo behind the summer event and Glasgow Beer Club are hosting their own Scotoberfest — a night of beers from Arran, Innis & Gunn (Scotland) and Hofbrauhaus (Germany), as well as food from southside caterer Brambles.

It’s German fun with a Scottish twist at the 3rd Scout Hall on Shawmoss Road, with music from Scott Macdonald — and fest-goers encouraged to dress up accordingly.

The event follows July’s inaugural festival at Langside Hall, where Dave Lannigan (who runs Twitter feed @AboutShawlands) and Emma Mykytyn (Food and Drink Glasgow blog) set out to improve offerings in Shawlands.

Dave told The Extra: “Nearly 600 people turned up in July — it went so well that we’ll need a bigger venue next year.

“It’s good for businesses in the area — and that’s what the events are all about.”

Scotoberfest isn’t the only thing on the menu for the Glasgow Beer Club, as an weekender session takes place the following week at the Clockwork Beer Co. There are 20 special cask ales — not available anywhere else in the southside — on from 11am until midnight across October 18-20, and tickets cost £5 for the day or £10 for the weekend.

If you can’t wait that long, then Scotoberfest tickets, for October 12, are £20.
