Thugs attacked victims with weapons during failed robbery

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a botched but violent robbery in Govan on Wednesday.

At around 9pm two men forced their way into a home in Skipness Drive and attacked a man and woman with weapons before demanding money.

The thugs then fled - empty handed - in a white hatchback car.

A 37 year old woman and a 49 year old man were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and released after treatment.

Detective Constable Larry Dempsey from Govan CID said: “This was a violent attack and it is crucial that we trace the people responsible as soon as possible.

“I would like to speak to anyone who heard or saw a disturbance in Skipness Drive around 9pm that night.

“I would also ask anyone who may have seen a white hatchback car in the surrounding area to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact officers at Govan CID via 101. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
