Tiny Braehead Primary raises big sum for UNICEF

Youngsters at tiny Braehead Primary in Clydesdale turned up at school in their pyjamas and enjoyed a healthy breakfast on their way to raising a stunning £713 for charity UNICEF.

“It was absolutely amazing,” said head teacher Jenny Brebner. “The children worked really, really hard.

“They were the instigators in this event, which was encouraging them to be more globally aware of children who have nothing.”

And the total – more came in after the cheque was written – was even more amazing given that Braehead has only 32 pupils and, as some are siblings, only around 25 families were involved in the fund-raising.

“It is superb,” said Jenny. “We don’t think we have ever raised as much from a sponsored event before.”
