Top knowledge on Burns

KILSYTH Library now has a special guest in the building - a Robert Burns statue.

The statue once belonged to former provost Malcolm Shields who gave it to Ian Leishman who has donated it to the library.

To celebrate the occassion the library recently announced the winners of a Robert Burns competition.

Users of the library are encouraged to enter the quiz which has run since January and two winners with the correct answer win book tokens.

This year the adult winner was Henry Hughes from Kilsyth while nine-year-old Adam Campbell, from Queezieburn, took the junior prize.

They are pictured with library supervisor Jane Lauder.

Jane said: “We did receive a lot of entries this year, and there is a lot of interest in the statue and the competition.

“We hope to repeat it again.”
