Top marks for Woodlands Primary

Inspectors from Education Scotland recently published a positive report on Woodlands Primary School and Nursery, and they praised the ‘confident and enthusiastic’ pupils, who enjoy learning.

During the visit, inspectors spoke to parents and children, and worked closely with the headteacher and staff to find out how well children are learning and achieving. They also wanted to determine how well the school supports children to do their best.

Key strengths highlighted in the report also included the very clear focus on children’s rights and responsibilities; very high levels of care and welfare, and the highly motivated headteacher and staff who have worked effectively together to achieve significant improvements to the school.

Nicola Ferguson, headteacher of Woodlands Primary and Nursery, said: “We are delighted that the report recognises the high quality of care we provide for our children.

“I am particularly pleased that it highlights the commitment and dedication of all staff and the strength of our teamwork.

“The care and welfare of the children is our priority, and are delighted that this was noted as astrength in the report.

“The inspectors recognised that our children are confident, enthusiastic and enjoy learning which is evident to us on a daily basis and serves as a credit to themselves, their parents, carers and the staff.”

Councillor Jim Logue added: “This is a highly positive report and I must congratulate everyone associated with Woodlands Primary and Nursery for their achievements.”

The pupils and staff will now work on developing key areas highlighted in the report.
