Traditional methods for farm feeding called into question

GRASS production for grazing or silage has been the backbone of milk production from dairy cows but now new work looking at alternative feeding and management systems is beginning to question traditional methods.

Trials looking at extreme production systems where cows are housed throughout the year and all their feed is delivered from a lorry in the form of food bi-products are starting to show that such systems can be as profitable when all costs are accounted.
