The first forms part of the ongoing SGN improvement works to the gas network in the town currently being carried out within the Motherwell area,

The temporary traffic management includes the closure of High Road at its junction with Hamilton Road and two-way temporary traffic signals on Hamilton Road, a similar arrangement to that previously implemented.

Resurfacing works are also proposed on Merry Street during the same period.

These works require Merry Street to be closed from Calder Bridge to the junction of Highfield Crescent with vehicles being diverted via Ravenscraig and Motherwell town centre.

A North Lanarkshire Council spokesman said: “Works are programmed to be carried out during the October school holiday period when the traffic flows are anticipated to be reduced, minimising the impact on the road network and travelling public.”
