She has a medium to stocky build, with dark brown hair which was tied back, and wore a red hooded top.

The dog is light brown in colour with a white breast and white patches on its head. It was wearing a blue or black harness.

PC Nikki Collison of Cumbernauld Police Office, said today: “Clearly this was a very distressing incident for the elderly woman, who was shaken and upset not only by her own injuries, but by the injuries sustained to the Jack Russell.”

“The injuries could have been a lot more severe and so it’s imperative that we trace the owner and the dog responsible.”
