Triple bad news on Lanark landmark projects

THERE was a far from sunny forecast for Lanark’s summer this week with a triple whammy of bad news on the fate of three of its public buildings.

Despite hopes to the contrary, the Memorial Hall will NOT be fully re-opened for Lanimers and the public toilets at the town’s major visitor attraction, the Loch, WON’T be re-opened for the summer season as widely expected.

It has also emerged that there is NO chance of Historic Scotland changing its mind on a decision that might well spell doom for the much-loved Murray Chapel in the old cemetery.

Much of the gloomy tidings came via the South Lanarkshire Council-run Lanark Town Group, charged with overseeing progress on these and other projects aimed at benefiting the people of the Royal Burgh.
