Twins Shout Out in honour of Heather

Eaglesham teens Brittany and Rachelle Davies are singing for mental health awareness — and in memory of a friend.

The twins (15) have released Shout Out in aid of YoungMinds, with the proceeds going to the mental health charity in the hope of encouraging youngsters to ask for help when they need it.

Brittany appeared in The Extra last year while taking on the TeenStar UK finals. The Mearns Castle pupil said that she wrote songs “about things that are happening in my personal life”.

The young songwriter penned her latest tune in memory of a friend, Heather, who passed away last year.

Brittany told The Extra: “We were both devastated when we got told about our friend Heather’s death.

“I was in my room one day not long after when the lyrics and melody kept going through my head over and over again, and that’s why I wrote the song.

“I showed it to Rachelle and it kept getting stuck in her head, so then we started working on it together as a duo, adding harmonies and letting it evolve.

“We approached Heather’s family, who gave it their blessing and chose the charity YoungMinds to benefit from it.”

Brittany and Rachelle hope that a video produced by The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland will help them to storm the charts in aid of the charity.

The young songwriter added: “If we can help just one person by releasing this song, all the hard work that has went into it will be worthwhile.”

Shout Out is available on iTunes, Spotify and from online music stores.
