Victory for Lanark Tennis Club!

While the world celebrates Andy Murray's victory at Wimbledon yesterday, Lanark Tennis Club is celebrating a success of its own.

The club has has aced its second Community Grant Award from South Lanarkshire Council.

The club, which now has 100 members, will use the £600 funding to buy admin equipment, produce marketing materials to promote the club and buy new tennis balls for adult and junior coaching sessions.

Established in 1908, the club adopts a ’Tennis For All’ approach and offers tennis for all ages and all levels for members and non-members.

Blythe Winning, Vice President of the club, said, “We are very grateful to the Clydesdale Area Committee for the grants.

“Lanark Tennis Club is a small but thriving club that relies on members giving their support to promote the club.”

Councillor Catherine McClymont, Chair of the Clydesdale Area Committee, said: “It is a pleasure to provide this grant to Lanark Tennis Club, an excellent example of how the community can come together regardless of age or ability and socialise, develop their sporting skills, and improve their health and wellbeing.

“It is a great club to support and a great thing to see them flourish.”

Lanark Tennis club is currently in the process of raising funds to replace its clubhouse. The total cost of the rebuild is estimated at £83,000, of which the club must raise £20,000.
