This footage was captured by readers Caroline Calder and Ryan Seath off St Ninian’s Bay, on the west coast of the island of Bute, over the weekend, with Caroline saying that one swam under their boat.

“All I know is it was far bigger than the boat!” she added.

Many thanks to Caroline and Ryan for sharing their clips with us, and if you’ve got any photos or videos you’d like to share with our readers please get in touch!

* Likewise, if you’ve spotted any basking sharks around the island’s coastline, please report your sighting to the Marine Conservation Society.
