Kirkintilloch man Scott Wilson and partner Emma
McBride ended up £2000 out of pocket after a wedding events firm shut up shop a week before their ceremony.

The couple’s big day at a Loch Lomond hotel tomorrow (Friday, June 10), was thrown into turmoil
when the planners at
Happy Talk Events in Glasgow
vanished with their cash and the cash of many other couples.

Morven Quin of Maq Films, based in Torrance, said she was only too happy to help, and other generous businesses have followed suit.

The young businesswoman said: “I was referred to Scott and Emma through a friend a
couple of months ago.

“When I heard they had been badly let down by their wedding planner I was shocked,

“I couldn’t believe someone could leave couples in such a stressful situation without a second thought.

“I’m pleased so many people have come forward to offer help to all the people who have been affected.

“I’m offering my service free of charge on this occasion and I’m only too happy to have played a small part in their big day.”

Morven, who is a journalist by trade and formerly worked at the Kirkintilloch Herald,
decided to launch Maq Films in April this year.

She said: “I’m fairly new to business but I’ve been amazed at the support people in the local area have offered.

“There’s a real community spirit amongst small business owners in East Dunbartonshire and I’ve really enjoyed finding my feet with plenty of help and advice from others.

“Promotional films for small to medium sized businesses is one of the services I offer and it’s actually been a good opportunity for me to meet like-minded people and build up a portfolio which people can relate to in the
local area.

“I’m looking forward to covering more weddings in future and thanks to Emma and Scott I’ll be able to show examples of the kind of work I do which should allow me to attract more business.

“If anyone is able to help them recover some of the costs they lost I’d urge them to visit their fundraising page https://www.gofundme.com/27p4mrp2?pc=fb_co_shareflow_m&rcid=0e624fae299e11e68e42bc764e049a64
