Motherwell West councillors Paul Kelly and Michael Ross welcomed the news.

Councillor Kelly said: “This is great news for the people of Forgewood, the new purpose built facility will provide a safe, secure and inspiring high quality early learning and childcare environment.

“There will be improved opportunities for staff to share best practice and for children to experience a wider range of learning and teaching.”

Councillor Ross added: “I know from my discussions with local parents they have struggled with the current set up of nursery provision split over two areas.
