Virgin Media staff give their time for Sport Relief

The call centre team will also be joining the nation in the fun and games themselves, showing off their baking skills at the ‘great Virgin Media bake off’, alongside an old school sports day with prizes, face paints and balloon making.

In 2014 over 80 call centres including, Bellshill, supported Sport Relief helping to raise cash to give vulnerable and disadvantaged people a helping hand to turn their lives around.

Regional director for the North East and Yorkshire, Karen Ingham, said: “We are thrilled to be part of Sport Relief again this year and it’s great to see the team at Bellshill getting involved.

“We feel privileged to support Sport Relief in addition to our other charitable activities.”

Half of all the money the public raise is spent by Comic Relief here in the UK, with the other half used to make a difference in the world’s poorest communities.

Since 2002, Sport Relief has raised over £262 million.

Sport Relief starts on BBC One from 7-10pm, then switches to BBC Two from 10-10.40pm and then back to BBC One from 10.35pm-1am for the conclusion.

This year’s highlights include Michael Crawford returning as Frank Spencer for a special episode of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em which features cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins; Idris Elba and Lenny Henry teaming up for a Luther special which also features David Haye, Rio Ferdinand, Ian Wright and many others; and Eddie Izzard completing 27 marathons in 27 days live from South Africa.
