Volunteer ‘match-making’ service

Environmental projects in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth could benefit from the launch of a new “matchmaking” service.

The Project Finder service, offered through the Scotland’s Environment website at www.environment.scotland.gov.uk, includes a search function to help would-be volunteers find projects that interest them.

Voluntary groups can register their profile and volunteering opportunities free of charge and several organisations have already done so, including wildlife surveys and conservation projects, as well as numerous projects dealing with a wide variety of other environmental concerns.

SEPA scientist Paul Griffiths said: “We’d like to think Project Finder is the equivalent of speed dating for volunteers.”
