Volunteers dig deep for community garden

WORK on Rouken Glen Park’s community garden is underway, thanks to a band of dedicated volunteers.

The group — recruited by Friends of Rouken Glen Park — have started the work needed to transform the former training garden into a tranquil community space.

Contractors will be laying specially-designed paths in the coming months to provide access for wheelchairs and prams, along with raised flower beds, a pebble garden and fountain.

FORG chairman Gerald Levin said: “We hope it will become a peaceful and colourful place that can be enjoyed by everyone in the community.

“We would appeal to the public to come forward to assist. There will be opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to help with jobs ranging from weeding and planting to grass cutting and watering.”
