Volunteers get their own Oscar awards

A voluntary action group are launching their very own Oscars to award people for going that extra mile.

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire has announced it is to launch the ‘The VOSCARS 2016’, which will be a unique Hollywood-style awards ceremony.

The awards will take place on Tuesday evening November 1 at Motherwell Concert Hall. Awards will be made on the night in 13 categories to reward deserving volunteers, volunteer-involving agencies, third sector organisations, social enterprises and other partners and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to supporting communities and the voluntary sector in North Lanarkshire.

Nominations for the 13 award categories are now open, closing date is Friday, September 16. There is no limit to the number of nominations that an individual or organisation can make, and self-nominations are also encouraged. This is your opportunity to gain some worthy recognition for yourself or hard-working volunteers or organisations you know of.

Award winners will be selected by an independent judging panel, with all category finalists being invited to attend The VOSCARS ceremony, and all nominated individuals and organisations receiving a recognition certificate from North Lanarkshire Voluntary Sector Partnership Group.
