Watch out for the bin inspectors this month

North Lanarkshire residents will find warning '˜tags' on their recycling bins if they don't follow the rules.

The blue bins are supposed to be for paper, magazines, envelopes, cardboard, empty aerosols, clean foil, cans, tins, metal jar lids, cartons and all plastic bottles, food trays and tubs.

But some people have been throwing food, glass and textiles into the bins.

Councillor Michael McPake, said: “Most residents are disposing of their waste correctly but we want to make sure everyone knows what can and can’t be recycled. So we’ll be continuing to monitor what’s in the bins over the coming months and placing tags on bins containing unsuitable rubbish.”
