Weekend brings summer fun days

The sun is out — and southsiders are making the most of it this weekend.

Pollokshaws Area Network hosts its annual parade and community carnival on Saturday (June 21).

The parade kicks off at Pollokshaws Library at 11.30am, and the free carnival — at Greenbank Park — will open from12-4pm.

There, visitors can expect Commonwealth Challenges for the youngsters, music, dance and local stalls.

On Sunday, it’s the turn of Giffnock Community Council to host the Big Lunch Fun Day, running 12-3pm at Giffnock Library.

Locals are invited along for an afternoon of music, entertainment, kids activities and henna tattooing — and everyone is invited to bring their own dish for the Eden Project day.
