‘Lok back on top

Pollok moved back to the top of the League after a comfortable 5-2 victory away to Maybole. ‘Lok took a 26th minute lead when Tam Hanlon timed his run beyond the defence perfectly to meet Davie Winters through ball, where he finished coolly under the onrushing Scott Johnstone.

The lead was doubled four minutes later after Kieran McAleenan’s ball to the edge of the area was met with an audacious backheel half-volley from Winters that found it’s way into the postage stamp corner. Hanlon added to his, and ‘Lok’s, tally just before the interval, beating the offside trap and squeezing the ball home.

The deficit was reduced in the 64th minute after Kenneth Parris burst through the Pollok defence to score. The three-goal lead was restored in the 67th minute when Winters sent Johnstone the wrong way from a penalty kick after a handball infringement. He completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute, playing a one-two in the box with Finlay Frye, before rounding the goalkeeper and finishing exquisitely from a tight angle.
