Adam, a sixth year pupil at Our Lady’s High School, took his winning run of form to new heights by nailing the recent UK under 17 title at Bedford in a new personal best of 62m 40 cm, the second best throw ever by a Scottish under-17 athlete.

The teenager’s delighted dad Tommy, who helps coach the youngster, said: “Adam has massive potential which will only be realised if he is well guided and has the necessary support team around him.”

A nailbiting finish in Bedford saw the competition remain undecided until the very last throw when Adam executed a textbook effort to win in yet another personal best performance of 62.40, adding the UK title to his Scottish, Scottish Schools and Lanarkshire Schools already won in 2016.

Adam is a member of the successful Tommy Boyle Athletics Squad, where he has specialist support led by his Tommy who has coached many athletes to international level including Tom McKean, Yvonne Murray and Susan Scott.

Tommy added: “We provide each athlete with individual support relevant to their age and stage of development and take great pride in ensuring that they have all round development physically, socially and psychologically.

“It is vital that we teach the values and life skills which will prepare them not only for life but to succeed in life in today’s society.”

Adam’s overall programme is directed by Tommy with support from technical coach Karen Costello, a teacher from Renfrewshire who competed for Scotland in the Commonwealth Games. Strength and conditioning assistance is provided by Gordon Crawford, while ACE physio look after Adam’s para medical side.

The team is now trying to secure individual sponsorship to take Adam to the next level and ultimately give him a chance to fulfil his dream of competing at international level.
