Battling performance puts Maia Lumsden into semi-finals

Mala Lumsden came from behind to reach the semi-finals of the ITF Futures tournament at Scotstoun Leisure Centre in Glasgow.

The 20-year-old East Dunbartonshire player defeated Italian qualifier Camilla Rossatello 2-6 6-3 6-1 in the quarter-finals on Friday afternoon.

Maia, world ranked 524, now faces France's Chloe Paquet (ranked 259) for a place in the final.

She has already defeated England's Jodie Anna Burrage and Liechtenstein's Kathina von Deichmann, world ranked 189, in the tournament as she chases her third Futures circuit after wins last year in The Wirral and Sunderland.

The Futures tour of the lowest tier of the pro circuit, but previous ITF circuit title winners include Simona Halep and Garbine Muguruza,
