A TRULY big name was victorious in the Carluke 5-Mile Road Race, which started and finished at John Cumming Stadium.

For victory went to Eritrean challenger Tewelddeberhan Mengistteab (Shettleston Harriers), whose winning time of 26mins 51secs was a full 24 seconds ahead of second placed Robert Gilroy of Ronhill Cambuslang. First local athlete home was third placed Andrew Lawler of Law and District AAC in 27mins 55secs.
