Sprinter Stewart Taylor-Peacock claimed gold in the under-14s 200m, with a time of 25.43 secs. The 13-year-old claimed his second medal of the championships when he finished second in the 60m.

Sisters Pamela and Emily McNicol also shared the medal haul. Fourteen-year-old Emily took gold in the under-16s high jump having cleared an impressive 1.55m – just short of her 1.57m personal best.

And her 15-year-old sister Pamela just missed out on gold in the under-16s 60m hurdles but a silver medal was still thoroughly deserved in a time of 9.21secs.

All three pupils are members of Law and District Athletics Club.

Carluke High head teacher Andy Smith said: “I am really pleased with our pupils’ continued success. It’s great to see them being recognised.”
