Scotia TKD students James McNair, Alex Marshall, Paul Codona and John Dunne – all taught by David Condie at Carluke’s Castlehill Industrial Estate – earned their belts at Seafield Community Centre.

James’s mum Arlene Paterson, of Carluke, said that her boy was “absolutely over the moon” to get his first degree black belt.

She added: “It’s fantastic that James is a black belt at such a young age and has also been a British champion twice.

“He has been doing taekwon-do since the age of five and these are three major achievements in his life already.”
