Clydesdale hat-trick at Disability Awards

CLYDESDALE sports stars scooped three top prizes at the South Lanarkshire Disability Sport Awards in Hamilton’s Palace Grounds Pavilion.

Junior female winner was S2 Lanark Grammar pupil Shiona McClafferty, who won four gold and two silver medals at the National Deaf Swimming Championships in Loughborough. Shiona, who has impaired hearing, received her prize from Councillor David Watson.

Prizes were presented to stars from Scotland’s Special Olympics squad, which had great success in Bath, England, in 12 sports.

Janet Grant, who attends Lanark’s Harry Smith Complex, received a female award from Angela Crawley of SLDS.

Janet won a bronze medal in the mixed pairs bowling championships.

Janet’s fellow Harry Smith Complex user Andrew Harrison received a male award from the council’s Patrick Murphy, after winning a silver medal in the men’s SSAD Bowling Championships in Bath.
