Clydesdale junior football round-up

FORTH Wanderers suffered Emirates Junior Cup heartache losing to Maryhill in a dramatic penalty shootout.

The game finished 1-1 with Forth having the chance to win the game in normal time, ironically with a penalty; however, Neil Reynolds missed the spot-kick.

Despite Wanderers equalising thanks to Alan Cameron they lost the shootout 3-2 with Danny Smith and Cameron himself missing from 12 yards.

Meanwhile, it was a case of another week, another postponement for Lesmahagow manager Sandy Robertson.

A burst waterpipe at Craighead Park put paid to Saturday's game and, with a tricky tie at Thornliewood on Saturday, Robertson, who has campaigned for summer football at a junior level, is hoping his players can bounce back from the long lay-off.

Lanark United were celebrating new signing Alan McFadden this week, who helped seal a 2-1 win victory over Pollok in the Premier Superleague.

Goals from McFadden and Grant Cuthill gave United a vital win as they look to maintain their place in the Superleague with a six-pointer against Rob Roy on Saturday.

Carluke Rovers also returned to action following a lengthy lay-off — but didn't do their promotion hopes any favours.

Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Yoker leaves Rovers mid-table but they remain in the hunt for one of the three automatic promotion places.

They will be hoping for better luck when they face Royal Albert at home this Saturday.
